Advanced SPFI Technology for CNG Fuel Systems

Benefits of SPFI Technology
- Low-cost solution
- Better homogeneity of air-fuel mixture
- Integrated system with minimal modification/adaption in the intake manifold
- Easy installation.
Limitations of SPFI Technology
- Poor vehicle pick-up or delayed response as fuel injection is far from the combustion chamber.
- Poor air-fuel ratio control during transient operation.
- Higher engine out emissions.
- Longer cranking duration.
- High tendency for backfire.
MPFI Technology
Multi-Point fuel injection system (MPFI), also known as Port Fuel Injection (PFI) or SGI (Sequential Gas Injection). It is the advanced and majorly used technology in CNG engines across applications such as passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, medium & heavy commercial vehicles. In MPFI, the fuel is injected into the intake port of the engine cylinder.

Benefits of MPFI Technology
- Precise air-fuel control during transient operation.
- Faster vehicle response and pick-up.
- Better fuel economy
- Lower engine out emission.
- Limited possibility of backfire.
- Better on-board diagnostic/monitoring of fuel injectors.
Challenges of MPFI Technology
- Relatively higher cost.
- Higher modification in the engine, particularly in the intake manifold.
